Setting up Specific Data Domain Working Committee

In order to support UiTM Data Governance Initiative, a diverse working group membership is foundation to the success of the committee, to ensure a cross-section of viewpoints and the authority by which to make and endorse decisions and policy for specific data domain.

The working committee may consist of:

  • Head of Department: Participation by executive leadership as a data owner provides valuable insight regarding the university strategic direction and assists with buy-in related to committee decisions.
  • Subject Matter Experts: Individual or group of people acting as the core membership of the committee, these individuals are the most knowledgeable on specific data domain and most impacted by data governance decisions.
  • Data Custodians: Department/officer that have a control over a data asset's disposition whether stored, in transit, or during creation. They carry a significant responsibility to protect data and prevent unauthorized use.
  • Data Steward: Individual or group of people expertly handle all things related to data processing, data policies, data guidelines and administer the valuable information in compliance with policy and regulatory obligations.
  • Information Technology: In order to ensure committee decisions complement and integrate with strategic technology priorities, IT must be involved early in business process decisions to prevent subsequent potential conflicts, especially on larger projects. Depending on the organization’s structure, this membership may involve Central IT or Development IT.

There are six (6) data domains was identified to form working committee as listed below:

    (Domain Maklumat Penyelidikan, Perundingan & Penerbitan)
  • Industry, Community and Alumni Collaboration
    (Domain Maklumat Jaringan Industri, Komuniti & Alumni)
  • Infrastructure & Facility
    (Domain Maklumat Pembangunan & Fasiliti)
